If you’re interested in learning more about how
Manfishers can help your church or ministry develop a
true discipling relationship with one of our partners in
the field, or perhaps you’re interested in volunteering
for an upcoming trip, please do not hesitate to
contact us. We would be happy to talk with you more
about your relationship with Christ and His calling on
your life to follow Him and be a fisher of men!
It's like taking a trip on an airplane. You get on, trusting that the pilot will take you
where he's supposed to, and then you simply sit back and let him do it. You don't sit
beside him and backseat drive; you don't sit there with a GPS and track your journey
along the way to keep tabs on his performance; and, you certainly don't start flapping
your arms to get the airplane off the ground! You completely trust him, knowing that if
he fails, you fail, and if he succeeds, you will, too. (And God never fails!!) That's the
kind of faith I'm talking about. You have to stop trusting in whatever it is you might have
been counting on to get you to Heaven -- being good, performing a ritual or service
(including baptism or communion -- I'll talk about that in a minute), belonging to a
particular church, etc. -- and begin trusting in Jesus' gift of His life for you.
If this is something you'd like to do, you can -- right now! Simply pray. And it's not any
specific prayer with special, magic words either. It's more about the attitude of your
heart than what you say; and if you mean business, so will God. Simply pray
something like this: "Jesus, I am a sinner. I know that nothing I can do will ever be
enough to deserve eternal life. Thank you for paying for my sin in my place. I accept
the gift of your grace now by faith. I will no longer trust in the things I have done or can
do, but I trust in you alone for my salvation. Thank You for saving me, and help me now
to live my life so that it reflects Your influence and my appreciation for what You've
done for me. Amen."
It's that simple. And once you've trusted Jesus, you belong to Him, and nothing can
separate you from Him. The Bible says that NO ONE can remove you from His hand,
and that includes you! Will you still sin? Of course -- you're still human! But the
sacrifice has been made, the gift has been accepted, and your sins paid for. You don't
have to be saved again and again -- Jesus didn't die again and again, did He? And if
you had to be saved each and every time you sinned, you'd spend more time in prayer
than you would living!
